Minnesota authorities searching for Milwaukee man, after kayak found earlier in week

Authorities in Minnesota were still searching Friday for a Milwaukee man whose kayak was found bobbing earlier in the week on Lake Superior.According to a news release Friday night from the Lake County, Minnesota, Sheriff's Office, Douglas R. Winter called a friend about 8:40 p.m., Monday and said he was kayaking on the lake. He told the friend that the waves were getting fairly large and that he was about two-to-three miles from the shore, which he could not see.His kayak was found shortly after 2 p.m., Tuesday along a beach just north of Twin Points and an air and water search followed. On Wednesday a vehicle owned by Winter was reported at the Cove Point Lodge in Beaver Bay and the manager of the lodge said Winter had paid to stay there Sunday and Monday.
