Franklin budget includes tax increase, spending cuts

Franklin — Mayor Tom Taylor's proposed 2010 budget would raise the property tax levy by 3.8%, cut general fund spending by 2.5% and not fill two police officer positions and one firefighter position that are vacant.The Common Council and its Finance Committee will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to consider the plan.A public hearing on the budget is set for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17. The council is scheduled to adopt a budget at that meeting.
